Rack Mount Document Storage Assembly

Disclosed is a document storage device designed for cantilever
mounting into Industry Standard Equipment Racks that conform to EIA
Standard RS-310-C and IEC 297.  This device allows for convenient
storage and retrieval of product publications, diagnostic diskettes,
and other diagnostic tools such as wrap plugs and wrap cables.

This assembly is a product accessory/feature that supports
electronic equipment mounted in racks.  The assembly mounts directly
to rack mounting rails and consumes a minimum amount of space in a
rack (2U = 3.5").

This assembly consists of two major components, a tray (1) and
rack mount brace (2).  Figure 1 shows the basic elements of this
assembly.  The Figure shows the tray (1) in its extended position.
The tray (1) provides the geometry which permits easy storage of
installation and service manuals (3), diskettes (4) and diagnostic
tools such as wrap plugs and cables (5).  The brace (2) provides the
structural integrity needed to support the tray and its contents.  In
addition, the rack mount brace (2) is strong enough to support the
weight of typical rack mount products up to 27KG (60 Lbs).  This
feature allows the brace to act as a shelf for temporarily resting
products while the product installer assembles a product in the rack
mounting rails (6) using standard screw attachment methods.

In addition to the basic features outlined above, the brace has
two latches...
