D-Shell Connector Installation Tool

      Illustrated in the Figure is a design of a D-shell connector
installation tool.  Currently, an installation tool of this type is
not known to exist.  The main benefit of having such a tool follows.

      In order to ensure proper alignment of the thumbscrews used to
attach a mating connector, the axes of the mounting screws used to
install the receiving connector to its chassis must be parallel with
each other.  The connector installation tool can achieve this
function by maintaining the mounting screws parallel to each other
while they are installed to their proper torque requirement.  A
prototype tool similar to that shown in the figure has been made and
has been shown to properly install the mounting screws, eliminating
alignment problems between the two connector halves.

      While the tool that was made was done for a 37 pin D-shell
connector, because D-shell connectors are a standard size based on
the number of pins, different size tools could be produced for each
of the standard sizes.

      Referring to the Figure, two hexagonal head nut drivers and
shaft (1 are inserted through the holes fabricated into the main body
(2) of the tool.  These holes are to be spaced such that the axes of
the holes are the same distance apart as the mounting holes of the
