Remote Fault Tolerance Configuration and Administration with Response File

      Disclosed is a method to invoke disk Fault Tolerance commands
remotely via a 'response file'.  This file is created by the user;
this it is customized to accomodate the requirements of the
individual customer servers.  The software which processes the
response files is part of IBM OS/2* Advanced Lan Server (LS) 3.0
package.

      The previous release of the Fault Tolerance utilities required
that the user be in attendance at the server for all configuration of
drives.  In this context, configuration includes requests to mirror,
unmirror, delete and recover drives.  Remote administration of drives
(such as correction of disk errors was available, but a user had to
be in attendance to restart the computer following the correction of
some errors.  Consider a customer or system administrator configuring
several hundred servers.  If each server required individual
attendance, the total time for initial setup could take days or
weeks.

      This disclosure solves this time consuming problem.  Customized
response files may be created and sent from a central server to other
servers in the network.  The servers can be configured and
administered remotely while unattended.

      While processing the commands requested in the response file,
the software generated two files to send back to the user: a history
