Visual Compactor

Provided is a technique for graphically and visually compacting
objects in order to overcome deficiencies with conventional
techniques.

Conventional compression facilities are provided.  In addition,
the following enhancements are provided:

A "compactor" icon is provided to reside on a desktop and a
"compressed object" icon is displayed to represent a
          compressed object.

Dropping an object icon on the compactor icon does the
following:

Provides dynamic icon feedback that the object is being
compressed and releases available space to system.

Opens the Compactor icon and displays a list of
compressed objects with relevant information about each
          object and the system.

An object may be decompressed either by dragging it out of the
compactor or selecting a Decompress action.  Execution of either
method displays a visual dialog dynamically showing the object being
decompressed.
