Reference Code Description Online Facility for IBM AS/400 Computer

Disclosed is a computerized fast look-up facility for 2-byte
hexadecimal Reference Code Descriptions for IBM AS/400*.  It accepts
user input of a reference code and quickly searches the online system
information (reference code translate tables) to find all matches.
The descriptions are then shown to the user.

The reference code description facility can look up any 2-byte
hexadecimal reference codes.  The reference codes are kept in tables
on a computer system.  The tables contain a descriptive message for
each reference code.  Disclosed is the idea of providing users with
quick informational access to the description data that they would
have previously looked for in a service manual.

The user goes through the following steps

1.  The user knows the Reference Code they want to look up (example,
it was in an operating system message).

2.  The Reference Code (1A06) is selected in Fig. 1 (the 2 other
options on the screen are defaulted to the most commonly used
    values).

3.  The program then searches all the online reference code Table IDs
for a match and generates the information to display.

4.  The output is shown to the user in Fig. 2.  All matches of (1A06)
    are shown.
