Method for Automatically Preventing a Print Job which can be Obtained without Printing

Provided is a method for allowing a user to configure an
automatic validation that the same print job is not being printed or
has not been printed within the last specified time period.  This
allows a user to be notified of the option to obtain the same printed
document without reprinting it.

Often within an office environment, users print documents which
are already being printed.  For example, all members in a department
receiving a specification for review may print the document for later
perusal.  Many people printing the same print job multiple times
unnecessarily burdens a printer and people who must wait on it.  It
would be more efficient to simply print one job and make copies of
the one job as needed.  There are also shared repositories which have
files a group of users may print.  A method is needed for indicating
to a user that the same print job is being printed by another user
within close proximity or to the same printer so that a user can
share the print job or make a copy with a copy machine.  A method is
needed for preventing overloading a printer by sending the same job
multiple times, particularly when there are few printers serving many
users and the users may belong to a common organization.

A method is provided for allowing a user to configure an
automatic validation that the same print job is not being printed or
has not been printed within the last specified time period.  If the
print job has been previously submitted within a reasonable amount of
time, or is currently printing, or is currently queued up for
printing, then...
