Abstract

Provided is an option to a user for setting a telephone apparatus mode of automatically indicating to a caller that the telephone is forwarded and optionally provide forwarded number information along with a special answer message. Of course, the user may prevent such information from being communicated to a caller. If, during phone forwarding time, the user chooses to have his phone provide a caller with a forwarded message, a prerecorded message (e.g, in the callee's voice) may be saved for play to the caller all times the phone cannot be successfully attached to the target phone (i.e, busy or answer machine). A user may manage many outgoing messages which may be assigned to the mode. A default message of

Method for Informing Callers of Forwarded Telephone

Provided is an option to a user for setting a telephone
apparatus mode of automatically indicating to a caller that the
telephone is forwarded and optionally provide forwarded number
information along with a special answer message.  Of course, the user
may prevent such information from being communicated to a caller.
If, during phone forwarding time, the user chooses to have his phone
provide a caller with a forwarded message, a prerecorded message
(e.g, in the callee's voice) may be saved for play to the caller all
times the phone cannot be successfully attached to the target phone
(i.e, busy or answer machine).  A user may manage many outgoing
messages which may be assigned to the mode.  A default message of

"THE PHONE IS FORWARDED" is provided for times when the forward
notification mode is selected and no message is assigned.  The user
may also request more information be provided to callers.
Optionally, the user may further allow the forwarded phone number be
announced to the caller, at the end of the special outgoing message.
The number need not be present in the user's message.  It is
automatically annotated after the outgoing message.  For example,
"THE PHONE IS FORWARDED TO 123-456-7890" is a valid outgoing message.
The user only recorded "THE PHONE IS FORWARDED TO".  Optionally, the
user may also request that location information be annotated to the
caller.
