Abstract

Disclosed is a function for converting NetErrorLogWrite Application Programming Interface (API) input arguments to the corresponding First Failure Support Technology/2 (FFST/2) control block information (error/message control blocks). This functionality is referred to as the LANPROBE "migration" FFST/2 probe point.

Migration of Neterrorlogwrite data to FFST/2

Disclosed is a function for converting NetErrorLogWrite
Application Programming Interface (API) input arguments to the
corresponding First Failure Support Technology/2 (FFST/2) control
block information (error/message control blocks).  This functionality
is referred to as the LANPROBE "migration" FFST/2 probe point.

The disclosed function provides a means of "migrating"
existing IBM OS/2 LAN Server (LS) errors, written to the LS error log
using the NetErrorLogWrite API, to the FFST/2 message/error logs.

The disclosed function does this by taking the NetErrorLogWrite
API input arguments and spliting them up into message log related
information and error log related information.   The error log
information is used to generate a FFST/2 error log control block.
The message log information is used to generate a FFST/2 message log
control block.   The message number associated with the message log
information is checked to see if a corresponding generic alert must
also be built.  If a generic alert is called for, then one is built.
The generic alert, if built, is sent to FFST/2 first and then the
remaining error log and message log control blocks are sent.

The NetErrorLogWrite API takes care of writing the error data
into the LS error log.  The LANPROBE "migration" FFST/2 probe point
handles getting that same information logged to FFST/2.   Without
this disclosed function, RAS a...
