Abstract

Described is a hardware implementation that provides a mounting tray that allows four personal computer (PC) components to be mounted as a complete package. The design encompasses the mounting of a diskette drive unit, a circuit card, a cable and cover with a bezel to be mounted as a complete assembly thereby simplifying the packaging and assembly when PC installation is required.

Mounting Tray for Personal Computer Components

Described is a hardware implementation that provides a mounting
tray that allows four personal computer (PC) components to be mounted
as a complete package.  The design encompasses the mounting of a
diskette drive unit, a circuit card, a cable and cover with a bezel
to be mounted as a complete assembly thereby simplifying the
packaging and assembly when PC installation is required.

In prior art, separate assembly of a diskette, circuit card,
cable and cover with a bezel was required during the assembly of a
PC.  The concept described herein provides a mounting tray to enable
PC components to be mounted as an independent subassembly so as to
simplify the PC assembly procedures.

Fig. 1 shows a top isometric view and Fig. 2 shows a bottom
isometric view of the mounting tray.  Slide 10 (Fig. 2) is provided
for mounting the diskette drive unit (not shown).  Cable strain
relief 11 is at the position shown to provide the necessary support
for cables when attached to the assembly.  When the four components
are assembled as a subassembly, it can then be positioned into the
proper location of the PC as a complete unit.  Described is a
hardware implementation that provides a mounting tray that allows
four personal computer (PC) components to be mounted as a complete
package.  The design encompasses the mounting of a diskette drive
unit, a circuit card, a cable and cover with a bezel to be mounted as
