A device is provided as a replacement for all types of stamps
and similar mechanical and electro-mechanical equipments
traditionally used in office environments for stamping incoming mail,
labelling, marking, time-recording and alike.  The device comprises
memory means for data and for programming, an interface to a scanner
and preferably an interface to an external PC, printer means and a
selection panel, such as a display, switches and the like.

In operation, first storage space is allocated for the image of
the stamp to be reproduced by the device.  Second, a specific import
function is selected and the image of the stamp is scanned.  The
scanned data is stored in the storage space allocated in the first
step.

This is repeated for a multiplicity of stamps which are to be
replaced by the subject device.

For the reproduction of the image of a stamp an export function
is selected and the image is correspondingly printed via the printing
device.  This may also be repeated as often as required, whereby a
multiplicity of different images or logos may be selected.
