Mother Board Manipulator Assembly

Disclosed is a new mother board (10) including manipulators
(11) to be used in a wafer prober tool for the immediate test of any
small design while avoiding the use of conventional
probing/cantilever cards.

The combination of a mother plug-in board and eight micro
manipulators of a new design is illustrated in the attached drawing.
For instance, in a typical application, the board measurement are 300
mm (W) x 191 (D) x 31,6 MM (H).

Manipulators are fixed onto the mother board by screws.
Micromanipulators use tungsten carbide needles (12) for optimum
conductivity.

An essential feature consists in providing 3 axis (13) of
freedom to the probe bodies which are totally adjustable to ensure
superior planarity accuracy.

Orientation and location concerns are neatly facilitated by
this arrangement.  Damaged or worn probes can be readily replaced and
refabricated in house because they are easily accessible.
