Deletion Confirmation for Hierarchical/ Related Entities

       Disclosed is a method for providing a graphical view of
an object and its related entities in order to confirm that the user
wants to perform a delete action on that object.

      When working in a system which is hierarchical in nature,
deleting entities often has the side effect of deleting the entities
'below' it in the structure, or deleting other related entities in
the system.  Most systems today call for users to confirm that they
want to delete entities, but do NOT show the user what the other
consequences of their actions will be (deletion of related entities)
until after the delete process is invoked, if at all.

      This method of forcing the user to confirm the deletion of
entities will show the user the associated entities that will also be
deleted by the action he/she is attempting, thereby ensuring that no
unwanted deletions will take place as an unknown side effect.  The
confirmation dialog will list the entity or entities that the user
has requested to delete, and also have fields for the descendant
and/or related entities that will be deleted as a result of deleting
the original entity or entities.  The figure shows a sample
confirmation dialog.
