Creating Calendar Entries Without Entering Times

      This invention avoids the problem of entering start and end
times for calendar entries.

      In the current art, various techniques are used to enter the
start and end times for calendar entries. Typically, typing is used
where the syntax of the time text varies with countries and practice.

      In some applications, default start times exist for calendar
entries. For this case, typing may be required to create the end time
for the calendar entry.

      In this invention, a default listing of start times is provided
on the calendar display.  The user provides the calendar entry
information by typing or by other techniques. An end time for the
entry is automatically provided according to the following algorithm:
      1.   As a default, a calendar entry will end at the next
default start time listed.  For this case, when the user starts to
insert the calendar entry information the end time is automatically
generated and added to the calendar entry.  For the case of the last
time entry presented, a default time interval is assumed, for
example, 1/2 hour.
      2.   To create a calendar entry with a later start time, the
user may select a range of times from the desired start time to the
