Clipboard Interaction Extensions

      Provided are techniques for extending clipboard operations for
objects with hidden data in order to overcome deficiencies with
conventional approaches.

      Users are provided with conventional features for clipboard
support.  In addition, users are provided with the following
extensions:
      O    Allow users to cut and copy selected visible
recordoriented information to the clipboard in conventional formats.
      O    Allow users to paste clipboard information from the
clipboard into record-oriented forms.
      O    Via a mouse-keyboard augmentation, allow users to cut and
copy selected visible and invisible record-oriented information to
the clipboard.
      O    Via mouse-keyboard augmentation, allow users to paste
record-oriented information into other objects of like or unlike
type.
      O    Provide direct manipulation support for move/copy of
visible and invisible data to the clipboard and vice versa.

      Benefits to the end user include new functionality and
flexibility, easier initial use of the system, easier learning, and
improved usability.
