Abstract

In the resource file after the CONTROL statement for the List is complete, a CTLDATA statement is used containing a parameter indicating this is a resource created List. The control tests for this flag at create time. If the flag is present, the List only creates a blank window and returns.

List CONTROL Created from a Resource File

In the resource file after the CONTROL statement for the List
is complete, a CTLDATA statement is used containing a parameter
indicating this is a resource created List.  The control tests for
this flag at create time.  If the flag is present, the List only
creates a blank window and returns.

It is then the application's responsibility to complete the
creation by sending a message telling the control to proceed with the
create, and passing as one of the parameters, the control data
structure at WM_INITDLG time.

This provides a means to pass the control data structure after
the List Control is created from a resource file.  Before this
invention, there was no means to allow the creation of the List
Control from a resource file.
