Method to Allow Access to the DOS LAN Requester Shared Memory Area While Running Under Windows

A method is provided to allow a user of DOS LAN Requester
Windows to access the shared memory area of the current IBM DOS LAN
Requester product.

Currently, the IBM DOS LAN Requester maintains a shared memory
area which can be accessed through either the DOS LAN Requester Full
Screen Interface or the DOS LAN Requester Command Line interface.
Maintaining this shared memory area allows a user to access filesets
and maintain workstation information through either of the above
interfaces.  With the introduction of the new IBM DOS LAN Requester
Windows product, a method was needed to allow a DOS LAN Requester
Windows user to also have access to the shared memory area.

In order to access the shared memory area from within the DOS
LAN Requester Windows product, a method was created which could be
packaged in a new Dynamic Link Library and which could be called from
within the network driver which runs when DOS LAN Requester Windows
is executed.  By creating this new function within the Dynamic Link
Library and externalizing it to other functions, the DOS LAN
Requester shared memory area can be accessed from the network driver
as well as from the executable file that DOS LAN Requester Windows
runs in order to execute shared applications.

By making the shared memory area accessible from within the DOS
LAN Requester Windows product, any modifica...
