Abstract

Disclosed is a fixture that was designed to assist the manufacturing assembly operators with the installation of the coaxial connectors on electronic card assemblies. Prior to this, a considerable amount of manually applied pressure was required of the operators to insert the connectors. The fixture also eliminated the exposures of sensitive components to electro static discharge from the operator's hands.

Coaxial Connector Insertion Fixture

Disclosed is a fixture that was designed to assist the
manufacturing assembly operators with the installation of the coaxial
connectors on electronic card assemblies.  Prior to this, a
considerable amount of manually applied pressure was required of the
operators to insert the connectors.  The fixture also eliminated the
exposures of sensitive components to electro static discharge from
the operator's hands.

With the fixture in the open position, the raw card 1 is placed
against the base of the fixture at the approximate location of the
pins.  The coaxial connector 2 is placed between the guide blocks and
the pins are aligned to their respective holes.  When the fixture 3
is closed, the pins will be forced through the holes of the card.
The fixture is then opened to remove the card.  The fixture is shown
in closed position.
