Installation Media Selectable Console Positioning

A method for selecting the device used as the system
console from the installation media is disclosed.  The installation
media specifies the absolute or relative address of the system
console, overriding the address that may be stored in system storage
or determined by system programming.

The solution to the problem is an indicator stored on the
installation media that can be controlled by the user preparing the
media.

A command is used to save the indicator in permanent storage of
the source system used to prepare the installation media.  The
indicator may be a simple indicator to override the console selection
on the target system to find the "next" possible console in a
predefined sequence. It may be a sequence number pointing to a
specific console device in a predefined sequence or it may be an
absolute device address.

The indicator is then saved on the installation media with the
programs used by the level of programming system that selects the
console.  When the programming system is loaded on the target system
and begins execution, the indicator is copied from the installation
media to permanent storage.  The indicator is examined for the
correct console selection action, which may be the default system
action for console selection.  The position of a key lock or switch
