Abstract

Disclosed is an icon design to represent the OS/2* Database Manager Configuration Tool. The icon is required for use in the Presentation Manager-based interface to the configuration features. Graphical interfaces rely on direct manipulation interface techniques. These techniques have become standard in the industry and are based on the ability to represent objects in the user interface. These representations often take the form of icons. An icon is a pictorial representation of an object. The icon design should invoke in the user an understanding of the purpose or use of the object it represents. An icon for the Configuration Tool supports the Database Manager portion of OS/2 Extended Services by providing a user interface for the following capabilities: * Change database configuration values.
