Automated Disk Spacing and Grouping Transfer Mechanism

      A tooling that uses a multi-pitch leadscrew to regroup and
change disk-to-disk spacing is disclosed.

      The threaded rod has one end at a specific pitch "X", cassette
end, and the other end at different pitch "Y", carrier end.  Three of
these threaded rods are arranged to form a cradle where the disks
ride between.  The three threaded rods are geared to rotate in unison
when driven by a motor.

      The cassette tool with spacing "X" and grouping of "T" disks
transfers disks from the cassette to the 3 rod leadscrew assembly.
The carrier tool with spacing "Y" and grouping of "Z" disks transfers
disks from the 3 rod leadscrew assembly to the carrier.  The carrier
tool and the cassette tool have a slotted bar with a passive clamp to
hold the disks tight during movement.  Normally, the tools are
positioned over the 3-rod leadscrew assembly.  The 3-rod leadscrew
assembly is controlled by two disk sensors.  A cassette disk sensor
senses when the cassette disk tool is empty.  A carrier disk sensor
senses when the carrier tool is full.

      The operational sequence of events is as follows:  The cassette
disk sensor senses no disks, the cassette tool skewers disks from the
cassette and deposits them in the leadscrew.  The cassette disk
sensor, sensing a disk, starts the leadscrew motor.  The leadscrew
advances the disks onto the carrier tool.  When the carrier disk
