Multiplier Consisting of Four Arrays

       A multiplier has four identical arrays.  The subtotals
and carries are added.  Interface carries are considered by adding
correction bits in the carry-save-adder stages.

      The multiplier processes 58 x 60 bits using the Booth
algorithm.  It has four arrays (Fig. 1) which are nested in pairs.
The advantage of this is that for each array a maximum of eight full
adder stages are series-connected. Outside the arrays, four full
adder stages are required for adding the subtotals and carries from
the four arrays. Interface carries are considered by adding
correction bits (Fig. 2) in the 2nd and 3rd carry-save-adder stages
(CSAs).
