Midway Air Duct for Cooling Personal Computer Hard Files

       Described is a hardware implementation which provides a
midway air duct for cooling personal computer (PC) systems equipped
with a direct access storage device (DASD) in Bay #4.  The
implementation incorporates a midway air duct with select
proportional type louvers so that existing power supply fans can be
used to supply the required airflow.

      A DASD in Bay #4, due to its position and in order to meet
required specifications, requires additional cooling. This is because
the DASD is located too far from the existing PC power supply fan.
The concept described herein is designed to provide the additional
cooling required by utilizing a midway air duct and louver
configuration.  In this way, an additional fan and manifold will not
be required.

      Fig. 1 shows how the midway duct and louvers are positioned
relative to the DASD and the power supply fan. The louvers are select
proportional type of louvers which are positioned in such a way so as
to direct the airflow in the proper direction for proper cooling.
Fig.  2 shows how the airflow is directed.  Air flows through the
side of the PC chassis and front bezel, through the louvers and then
to the air outlet after going through the fan.
