Abstract

Disclosed is a program titled Data Collection Concentrator which centralizes transactions received from the data collection terminals and maps the transactions to customized processing routines. The Data Collection Concentrator receives transaction data blocks from data collection terminals through a realtime interface card (ARTIC). (Refer to the figure.) The Concentrator couples particular transaction types to the custom processing functions through reading the index file. Data specified in the transaction data block determines the transaction type. Therefore, at runtime, the Data Collection Concentrator couples the particular transaction type to a processing routine. Thus, the Data Collection Concentrator is extremely flexible and configurable. Data Collection Terminal Concentrator

Disclosed is a program titled Data Collection
Concentrator which centralizes transactions received from the data
collection terminals and maps the transactions to customized
processing routines.  The Data Collection Concentrator receives
transaction data blocks from data collection terminals through a
realtime interface card (ARTIC). (Refer to the figure.)  The
Concentrator couples particular transaction types to the custom
processing functions through reading the index file.  Data specified
in the transaction data block determines the transaction type.
Therefore, at runtime, the Data Collection Concentrator couples the
particular transaction type to a processing routine.  Thus, the Data
Collection Concentrator is extremely flexible and configurable.
Software

The Data Collection Terminal Concentrator consist of three
software components:
1. Dispatches transactions for processing; 2. Library of transaction
processing functions; 3. Map of functions in Data Collection Terminal
DLL (ASCII text file)
Function Overview

The Data Collection Terminal Concentrator receives transaction
data blocks from Data Collection Terminals through a Device Data
Management System (DDMS) application executing on an ARTIC card.  The
Concentrator dispatches the transaction data block to an OS/2* thread
dedicated to processing the particular type of transaction.  The
processing functions are contained in an OS/2 dynamic link...
