Ticker Tape Control

Controls provide an object-oriented approach for
programming, reduce the logical complexity and ensure uniformity and
assimilation of a user interface.  Current controls provide for a
specific property for object manipulation.  A control which can
provide the function of a ticker tape movement allows provision of
additional object manipulation.

The ticker tape control will adhere to the WinCreateWindow()
function under the IBM Presentation Manager* API with a class name of
WC_TAPE for its creation class.  The control has properties of the
class WC_FRAME except it is frameless.  If the programmer wishes it
to be framed the parent of WC_TAPE should be a WC_FRAME.  This will
provide flexibility to the user interface.  The WC_TAPE object has
inherent four messages, TM_SETTEXT, TM_QUERYTEXT, TM_SETTIMER, and
TM_QUERYTIMER.  The TM_SETTEXT/TM_QUERYTEXT message will enable the
programmer to set/query the ribbon text for the control.  The
TM_SETTIMER/TM_QUERYTIMER will enable the programmer to set/query the
timer interval and incremental movement grainuality for the scrolling
process. A timer interval of zero will freeze the tape motion. The
timer interval is in milliseconds and the default time interval will
be 150 msec.

The ticker tape control could be used as a tab for a folder
which contains monitored stock quotes. The folder could be moving
stock symbols in real-time without opening the folder; or the ticker
