Method to Reduce Changed Data Sent between Computer Systems

       Disclosed is a method to reduce changed data sent between
computer systems.  This method combines existing technologies in a
new way.

      Large volume of changed data transmittal requires two valuable
resources: time and space.  This disclosure addresses the problem of
transmitting voluminous and time costly changes.

      This innovative method, to reduce the size and time required
for data transmission between computer systems, combines existing
technologies in a new way.  The innovation is not the reduction
technologies themselves, but the method in which they are combined.

      The following steps are performed to prepare changes for
transmission from the sending system (see Figure 1).
1.   Comparison of new and previous files to produce a difference
file containing changes only.
2.   Packaging all files for transmittal into one file.
3.   Compressing the package file using the most efficient tersing
algorithm.

      The following steps are performed at the receiving computer
system (see Figure 2).
1.   Decompression of the package file.
2.   Unpackaging the package file into its component files.
3.   Processing the difference files into the new files.
