       Commercialization of the new high Tc superconductor
materials will require large volumes of materials in order to be
competitive where basic materials cost is an important consideration.

      The elements of the lantanide series produce compositions with
critical temperatures above 77oK.  The major cost of a lantanide is
in the separation of one from the other.  This invention constitutes
a composition of matter where the rate earth component of the higher
Tc superconductor comprises a material mixture of the naturally
occurring rare earth elements in their oxide form.  In this
pre-separatal form and chemically reduced, the metal is known as MISH
Metal.  The mixed oxides as a source of the lantanide when used in
the production of Tc conductivity materials will have an important
impact in lowering the basic cost of these materials.
