Actuator Gram Load Tester

       A gram load measurement tool that verifies the gram load
measurement on all of the head suspension assemblies at fly height is
disclosed.

      Fig. 1 shows the actuator 1 in the gram load pallet 2 so that
all the datum on the actuator can be fixtured.  The load beam 3 is
bent so it has a specific spring pressure on the head 4.  Fig. 2
shows the pallet 2 in the gram load tool.  Fig. 3 shows the breakdown
of the measurement process.

      Load cell and tower assembly 4 is located inbetween two head
suspension assemblies.  The spring-loaded pin 5 is pushed down by the
cam pin 6.  Cam pin 6 is rotated 90 degrees to load and unload the
head suspension assemblies onto the load cell/tower assembly 4.  The
springloaded pin 5 takes a measurement on the head suspension
assembly gram requirements.  This measurement is taken three times
and stored on a software program.  After the first reading is taken,
the load cell/ tower assembly 4 is retracted by the x.z. slides 3
(see Fig. 2) and moved in sequence to the seven positions.  All data
is recorded on a software program.
