Video Display Image Centering Support from a Video Display and Capture Adapter

      Described is a program which will display the actual captured
or digitized image on a video display.

      The separate Cursor Plane and interactive functions of this
invention provide the user assistance in adjusting the display to be
precisely centered.  A program will load the Cursor Plane with a
precisely centered three-pixel-wide crosshair cursor shape that
extends to the edges of the image plane of the Video Digitizing and
Display adapter and then enables both the display and the cursor
functions.  The cursor crosshair will then appear on the Video
Display. With this cursor displayed the user can then adjust the
display as much as possible to place the cursor in the physical
center of the display.  When the best possible centered image has
been achieved, the user can request a calibrate function to determine
how well the display is actually centered.  With the calibrate
function the user will be given four right angled shaped cursors, one
for each corner of the display.  The user will then be allowed to
move these right angled cursors to each of the four corners of the
display.  The user will indicate via the keyboard or the system
pointing device when the cursors are precisely positioned at the
display corners.  The program will then generate a crosshair that
represents the center lines of the physical display as it maps to the
