A Tiled Window Management User Interface for Host Dependent Workstations

The invention relates to a method for tiled window management
on a host dependent terminal display.  "Tiling" indicates that panels
of a display window to sum to a constant size.  Consequently, a
change in the size of one panel alters the sizes of the remaining
panels.

The method proposed is controlled through the use of OPEN and
CLOSE commands.  It further comprises the steps outlined below.
(a)  Selecting a multi-panel window from a set of configurations.
(b)  Creating or "opening" a window having the selected panel
configuration and a single anchor point as a function of the position
of a displayed cursor.
(c)  Sizing the windows by positioning the display cursor at a new
anchor point and pressing the SIZE command function key.
(d)  Amending the window by "closing" one of the panels and expanding
the remaining panels to sum to the constant size.
(e)  Reconfiguring the window by repeating steps (a) through (d).
