Abstract

In a work flow environment, people are paid based on the volume of work that gets done. For that reason, tasks should be accomplished in the minimum number of keystrokes, thus enhancing the productivity of the user. In the standard Presentation Manager* environment, windows must be opened explicitly. This would require a user of a Document Communications Process to explicitly open a transmission in order to handle it. Thus, an option is provided so that the next inbound transmission in the list of transmissions is automatically handled immediately after processing is completed on the previous transmission. This solves the problem of the user having to explicitly handle the next transmission to be processed. Thus, at least two keystrokes are saved for every transmission in the list.

Method for Enhancing the Processing of Inbound Transmissions

In a work flow environment, people are paid based on the
volume of work that gets done.  For that reason, tasks should be
accomplished in the minimum number of keystrokes, thus enhancing the
productivity of the user.  In the standard Presentation Manager*
environment, windows must be opened explicitly.  This would require a
user of a Document Communications Process to explicitly open a
transmission in order to handle it.  Thus, an option is provided so
that the next inbound transmission in the list of transmissions is
automatically handled immediately after processing is completed on
the previous transmission.  This solves the problem of the user
having to explicitly handle the next transmission to be processed.
Thus, at least two keystrokes are saved for every transmission in the
list.

An option is provided to the Window pulldown of the Inbound
Transmissions Window called "Automatically open next transmission."
This option can be checked or unchecked and is checked by default.
When this option is checked and a document is to be repetitively
transmitted to a list of recipients, the next transmission in the
list is automatically opened.  When unchecked, the document is
returned to the list of transmissions where it must explicitly open
the next transmission to be processed.
