Abstract

In a work flow environment, people are paid based on the volume of work that gets done. For that reason, tasks should be accomplished in the minimum number of keystrokes, thus enhancing the productivity of the user. In the fax environment, it is common for inbound transmissions which have previously been separated into documents (by a manual or automatic process) to have been burst incorrectly. A user of a document separation process would then need to explicitly select each document of the transmission and undo them. Thus, an option is provided so that the user can select all documents of a transmission. The user can then undo all the documents and, in effect, reset the transmission to its original "unburst" state.

Method to Enhance Undoing Previously Created Documents in a Transmission

In a work flow environment, people are paid based on the
volume of work that gets done.  For that reason, tasks should be
accomplished in the minimum number of keystrokes, thus enhancing the
productivity of the user.  In the fax environment, it is common for
inbound transmissions which have previously been separated into
documents (by a manual or automatic process) to have been burst
incorrectly.  A user of a document separation process would then need
to explicitly select each document of the transmission and undo them.
Thus, an option is provided so that the user can select all documents
of a transmission.  The user can then undo all the documents and, in
effect, reset the transmission to its original "unburst" state.  This
solves the problem of the user having to explicitly select each
document and saves the user at least one keystroke per document.

The option "Documents" is provided to the submenu of the
"Select all" item of the Group pulldown.  When this option is
selected, all documents of the currently open transmission are
selected.  The document separator can then click on the "Undo
document" option of the Group pulldown to undo all the documents of
the transmission.
