Aluminum Nitride Coated Piston

      Disclosed is a process for using an aluminum nitride-coated
piston to provide a more efficient thermal path from a silicon chip
to a heat sink in thermal conducting modules.

      In this process, only the surface of the aluminum piston which
is in contact with the chip is coated with aluminum nitride to
provide electrical isolation between the chip and heat sink as shown
in the figure.
