OS/2 Distributed Automation Edition File Transfer Mechanism

Disclosed is a program which enables the immediate
movement of data files between source and destination locations in a
network and/or a Host (external system).  The Distributed Automation
Edition* (DAE) Data Supply function is used to move data files
between nodes.  The Distributed Automation Edition Host Link function
is used to transfer data files to and from a Host.

A Data Transfer request can be issued by a screen or from a
Distributed Automated Edition application through a calling
interface. The source and destination locations of the data to be
transferred may be any combination of node, Host, or a 9370 running
Distributed Automated Edition/VM.  See the figure.

The following parameters are necessary to specify a node to
node transfer:  Source file name (including drive and path); Source
node name; Destination file name (may be different from the source
file name); and Destination node name.  A file transfer request may
be made from any node in a network to transfer among two nodes in a
network.

The following parameters are necessary to specify a Host
request:  Session Identifier (sessions pre-configured at Distributed
Automation Edition configuration time); Host type (MVS, VM, or 9370);
Data Type (ASCII/binary); Host indicator (source or destination); and
File name (including drive and path name).
