Abstract

An interface has been designed which allows the OfficeVision* (OV) Calendar user to specify that a meeting event is to be repeated at regular intervals, such as the first Tuesday of every month, or every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, regardless of date. What is missing is visual feedback of both date and where in the month the events will lie.

Calendar Feedback of Regularly Repeating Meeting Selections

An interface has been designed which allows the
OfficeVision* (OV) Calendar user to specify that a meeting event is
to be repeated at regular intervals, such as the first Tuesday of
every month, or every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, regardless of
date.  What is missing is visual feedback of both date and where in
the month the events will lie.

The addition of a monthly calendar allows feedback in both
forms.  The calendar pane is a read/write control.  That is, as the
check boxes are used, the corresponding dates are selected on the
calendar pane automatically.  The user can also select a date on the
calendar, which causes that date to be automatically entered in
either the start date or end date entry fields, whichever field has
the cursor focus.

      Advantages are:
1)   Easy visualization of dates.  For example, what the date is of
the last Wednesday of the month, or whether there are four or five
Wednesdays in the month.
2)   Start/Stop date entry with no typing.
