Abstract

What is described herein are conditioning/styling polymers of vinyl caprolactam (VCL), vinylpyrrolidone (VP), dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA) and optionally C8-C24 alkyl quaternized dimethylaminopropyl (meth)acrylamide or methacrylic acid quaternized monomers (QDMAPMA). Personal care/cosmetic compositions such as hair and skin care compositions which include these polymers exhibit advantageous low tackiness and high humidity resistance.

CONDITIONING/STYLING RESIN

      Reference is made to the disclosure in IPCOM000032788D and U.S. Patent 6,852,851 B1 issued February 8, 2005. These publications are hereby incorporated by reference in their entirety.  IPCOM000032788D describes conditioning/styling polymers of vinyl caprolactam (VCL), vinylpyrrolidone (VP), dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide (DMAPMA) and optionally C8-C24 alkyl quaternized dimethylaminopropyl (meth)acrylamide or methacrylic acid quaternized monomers (QDMAPMA) and their use in personal care/ cosmetic compositions. A preferred resin is a tetrapolymer as described in U.S. Patent 6,852,815 B1. A preferred tetrapolymer, ACP 1321 (VCL/VP/DMAPMA/MAPLDMAC, 70/28/0.4/1.6) has found particular utility in the formulations set forth herein.
