Create a New LU 2.0 Command Called Logerror

This article describes a new command that has been
created for applications using High Level Application Programming
Interface (HLAPPI).  The new command has created the ability to trace
the activity that is taking place during the physical logon and
logoff to the host.

In OfficeVision*/2 (OV/2) V1 mail can be exchanged with
OfficeVision/VM* (OV/VM) or PROFS* user by establishing a VM gateway
connection.  The VM gateway from the PC uses a LU 2 connection
utilizing HLAPPI and Server Requester Programming Interface (SRPI) to
perform the required actions.  During the mail exchange the gateway
machine executes script files called LOGON.PRO and LOGOFF.PRO to
physically logon and logoff of the host service machine.  Even though
the script language provides many features there was no imbedded
feature to aid in testing or debugging of the script files once
written.  Since no mechanism was provided for the administrator to
debug the script files and make them robust enough for a production
environment a new command was desperately needed.  The only tracing
command available was a QUIT command.  Even though it provides some
trace information, it is extremely slow to determine what the
appropriate changes to make are since only one possibility can be
explored during each cycle of the gateway.

A new command has been created that allows the administrator to
trace any part of the script files, whenever a...
