Abstract

Servo track writing of direct access storage devices that require physical access to the file actuator and disk pack can be accomplished outside a clean-room environment. This can be done by pressuring the disk enclosure (DE) with ultra-clean air to insure that no contamination can enter the file. Stabilizing the pressure of the DE to a certain small positive value will involve a pneumatic closed-loop control of the air input being applied through the breather or other access port into the file.
