User Model and Design with Link as an Object

This invention provides a powerful user model and
implementation design for linking of objects which provides for data
processing with links.

A link is a connection between objects where the contents of
the link is at least an event and a message.  The event is an action
or state in one object, which is the source object.  When this event
occurs, then a message is sent to another object, the target object.
The target object then performs data processing in accordance with
the message received.  The message may include parameter information.
A link as an object is a user interface representation of the link
for which general actions, such as open, that apply to all objects in
the system also apply to the link object.  Like other objects, links
have visual characteristics.  One primary action on links is open.
Open results in the view of the link object that allows the user to
see and modify the link's event/message pair.
