Abstract

Existing directory systems provide a variety of methods for conveying time zone differences among users. These systems allow potential distributors to be cognizant of time differences due to the geographical locations of users. Users typically dial individuals during normal business hours, i.e., during daytime. Prior art allows the user to be notified of the current business hours of a potential recipient. Additionally, prior-art systems allow users to view daylight conditions over the regions of potential recipients.

Geographical Communication Associator

Existing directory systems provide a variety of methods
for conveying time zone differences among users. These systems allow
potential distributors to be cognizant of time differences due to the
geographical locations of users.  Users typically dial individuals
during normal business hours, i.e., during daytime.  Prior art allows
the user to be notified of the current business hours of a potential
recipient.  Additionally, prior-art systems allow users to view
daylight conditions over the regions of potential recipients.

Business hours can vary from culture to culture.  Also,
business hours may differ from company to company.  A user may desire
to establish a communique according to the environmental conditions
at the particular location.  Such conditions as daylight can be used
for the establishment of communications among parties.  Users
typically guess at what may be normal business hours for a recipient,
assuming daylight hours.  Some users may simply choose to dial a
respective party during daylight hours.  Moreover, the elapsed time
from a designated environmental condition, e.g., number of hours past
sunrise, can establish the communication time.  For example, in
Moslem-based cultures, prayers are performed periodically (5 times)
during the day from the time of sunrise.  (Note: The time of sunrise
differs from day to day and year to year.) It is advantageous to
allow office communiques to be associated based on environmental
factors, e.g., daylight conditions, of a potential recipient.

A service can control the initiation of communiques by
environmental conditions of specific geographical regions of
potential recipients.  This method entails a profile by which a user
can include or exclude geographical regions for analysis.  These
regions essentially allow the user to establish communication "camp
on" based on the environmental conditions, such as daylight.  A
Correlation Service establishes which communiques are completed and
which are still pending.  An Initiator Manager determines which type
of media is desired for the specified communication, e.g., automatic
telephone dial or electronic messaging.  A Presentation Service
allows the user to specify which media attributes should be
ascertained for particular...
