Dispatch Object

Many companies use objects for user-interface selection
and assimilation.  Objects provide an object-oriented approach for
programming and reduce the logical complexity.  They also ensure
uniformity.

An object which can provide the function of a dispatcher is
non-existent.  Scheduling applications must implement their own user
interface to acquire time information and monitoring.  There is no
flexibility or integration of these applications.  Additionally, the
process is not efficient on Operating System resources.

The Dispatch Object conforms to the drag and drop interface.
The object is simply an icon on the computer desktop with functional
specifications of a data file.  The format of an object entry
follows.  The entry shown is a generic labeling of the fields.
<event-id>
Apr 21 12:33:00 1992<range>1/8exclude
working directory
path/filename parameters

The specification of the format is stated as simple and
intuitive for text editing.  This will allow for customers to edit
the profile without the necessity of writing an application, and if
an application needs to interface the format, the specification is
simple enough to understand and debug.

An actual profile is shown below.  The first entry will execute
the dowjones.exe application, with a profile file on any day in
April, every hour in the range of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to obtain
stock quotes, excluding Saturday and Sunday.  The second entry will
execute the popup.exe application with the string Status meeting Cape
Fear.
