Graphical Way to Select Meeting Start/End Times

Most electronic calendar applications today include a group
appointment (meeting scheduling) function.  This function usually
allows a user to search for free time when scheduling meetings.  Free
time searches return a list of blocks of time that are free (not
busy) for each of the meeting attendees.

Consider the following scenario.  John wants to schedule an
hour meeting with Joe, Sally, and Sue.  John and Sally are not busy
all day, Joe is busy from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. and from 2:00 to 3:00
p.m., and Sue is busy from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.  The list John gets back
from the free time search shows a block of time from 9:30 a.m. to
1:00 p.m.  It is not presented in hour blocks because there is no
practical way to know when John wants to start the meeting. So John
selects the desired block of time and then re-enters the desired
start and end times.

If a slider control is added to the user interface, John's
interactions are simplified.  John makes a selection and is shown a
slider with whose start and end equal the start and end of the
selected block of time and whose bar is the length of the meeting.
Now John slides the bar to the appropriate start time and the start
and end times are known.
