Background Dependent Mouse Cursor

      A program is described which automatically modifies mouse
cursor presentation attributes such as color and shape so that it is
better observed by a user over a particular background.

      A desktop may contain objects with many different colors and
shapes.  The mouse cursor may be hard to identify among other objects
or a background which does not allow seeing the mouse cursor in a
highlighted manner.  A method is needed for automatically and
dynamically changing the mouse cursor so it is seen easily among
surrounding objects and/or background.

      Described here is allowing automatic modification of mouse
cursor presentation attributes so that the cursor is better observed
by a user.  For example, a mouse cursor may appear white on a
desktop.  If a user were to change the desktop to the same or similar
color of white, then the mouse cursor is very difficult to see, even
though a black outline surrounds the mouse cursor object.  Color of
the mouse cursor is automatically changed so that it contrasts better
to the background.  The change occurs as soon as the mouse cursor is
manipulated into a specific area of a particular color. The mouse
cursor color is instantly and automatically changed.  Changing the
mouse cursor shape in context with the current background may also be
performed.  For example, the mouse cursor will turn into a large
mouse cursor when objects containing large fonts are within proximity
