Abstract

This design details a new object-oriented approach for deleting objects under the OS/2* Operating System. A new object is created called the Recycle Object. The concept of this object allows it to fit in well with the Shredder Object. The Recycle Object is assumed to be an icon which looks like a recycle bin with a circle arrow pictured on the side. The user can drag objects to the Recycle Object for deletion. The objects have been deleted but can be recovered, if required. A time interval can be set by the user to initiate the recycling of data space occupied by the objects contained in the Recycle Object. This removal is not data information secure. To remove the objects permanently contained in the Recycle Object, the Recycle Object can be dragged and dropped on the Shredder Object, which will remove the objects.

Recycle Object and Shredder Object Modification

This design details a new object-oriented approach for
deleting objects under the OS/2* Operating System.  A new object is
created called the Recycle Object.  The concept of this object allows
it to fit in well with the Shredder Object.  The Recycle Object is
assumed to be an icon which looks like a recycle bin with a circle
arrow pictured on the side.  The user can drag objects to the Recycle
Object for deletion.  The objects have been deleted but can be
recovered, if required.  A time interval can be set by the user to
initiate the recycling of data space occupied by the objects
contained in the Recycle Object.  This removal is not data
information secure.  To remove the objects permanently contained in
the Recycle Object, the Recycle Object can be dragged and dropped on
the Shredder Object, which will remove the objects.  The algorithm
for deletion by the Shredder Object is to be modified, which removes
the object entry and all data associated with it by the
0xAAAA/0X0505/0XFFFF data rewrite algorithm.

The incorporation of the Recycle Object into the current
interface with modification of the Shredder Object will provide a
seamless interface to the user.
