Color LCD Structure

       Disclosed is a color LCD (liquid crystal display)
structure wherein liquid crystal droplets are dispersed in color
filters.  Specific wavelength light is scattered in the color filter
and therefore specific color corresponding to the color filter
appears.

      The disclosed structure herein uses PDLC (Polymer Dispersed
Liquid Crystal).  Generally, PDLC consists of micron-size nematic
liquid crystal droplets dispersed in a polymer.  The nematic droplets
scatter light strongly and the film has a white opaque or translucent
appearance. In the disclosed structure herein, liquid crystal
droplets are dispersed in color filters.

      A reflection-type color LCD structure is shown in the figure.
Incident light is scattered by liquid crystal droplets dispersed in
the color filters and red, green or blue color is observed when
liquid crystal is opaque state.  Light passes through color filters
and reaches optical absorber when liquid crystal is transparent
state.  This type of LCD panel does not require a polarizer which
would reduce total brightness.
