Abstract

This invention is aiming to get an effective shielding for the coils of the read/write heads of a head suspension assembly (HSA). The head suspension according to the present invention has the following structure: (1) Extended shielding that covers the upper part of the coil, as shown in Fig. 1, or the entire coil, as shown in Fig. 2. (2) Electrical conductivity between HSA, actuator arm, and base mechanism to get grounding of the shielding, as shown in Fig. 3.

Electric Shielding of Head Suspension Assembly

This invention is aiming to get an effective shielding
for the coils of the read/write heads of a head suspension assembly
(HSA).  The head suspension according to the present invention has
the following structure:
      (1) Extended shielding that covers the upper part of the coil,
as shown in Fig. 1, or the entire coil, as shown in Fig. 2.
      (2) Electrical conductivity between HSA, actuator arm, and base
mechanism to get grounding of the shielding, as shown in Fig. 3.

Effective solutions for those noises are very important to
develop small hard disk drives.
