Disclosed is a device that is constructed to remove a data cable assembly from the socket on a direct access storage device (DASD) assembly. The premise of this device is to maintain a straight line pull of the plug from the socket.

Cable Removal Tool

      Disclosed is a device that is constructed to remove a data
cable assembly from the socket on a direct access storage device
(DASD) assembly.  The premise of this device is to maintain a
straight line pull of the plug from the socket.

      The procedure to utilize this device follows:
1.  Place tool in position on DASD subplate hole 1 (see Fig. 1) and
locating fingers 2 in ends of plug socket (see Fig. 2).
2.  Activate gripper portion of tool by squeezing internal lever 3.
Six recessed openings on each side of plug 4 allow gripper to engage
plug 4 (see Fig. 2).
3.  Continued squeezing of internal lever 3 will remove plug 4 from
socket (see Fig. 2).
4.  Tool may be removed from DASD device and release of internal
lever 3 will release plug 4 from grippers (see Fig. 2).
