Method for Iconic Association of Posted Notes to a Calendar Service

Provided is an automatic association of electronic posted notes
with calendar time units.

An office system which supports an electronic posted note
metaphor allows a user to type arbitrary content within the note.  A
user often likes to assign data and/or times within the posted note
content.  Such dates and times may be due dates, check point dates,
or the like.  A method is needed for associating posted notes in an
electronic office environment with a calendar service.

Provided is an automatic association of electronic posted notes
with calendar time units.  The user may want small posted note icons
to appear in the daily screen of the calendar for all posted notes
for that day.  Each tiny icon will appear in the respective time slot
should a time be contained within the associated posted note.  At the
time of constructing a Posted Note with time relevant data, a handle
to the posted note is maintained in a corresponding calendar entry.
The calendar entry contains a visual posted note icon which may be
selected to immediately transpose the user to the posted note
contents.  A function is provided for immediately returning to the
calendar application.
