Another method is to call a phone company operator to do this task for the user. A method is needed for automating conference calls. Many users schedule conference calls using a calendar system. A method is needed for automating conference calls directly from calendar events.

      Provided is an automatic conference call attach methodology.
Currently, a user must make multiple phone calls, back to back, in
order to set up a teleconference between multiple parties.  Another
method is to call a phone company operator to do this task for the
user.  A method is needed for automating conference calls.  Many
users schedule conference calls using a calendar system.  A method is
needed for automating conference calls directly from calendar events.

      Provided with an automatic conference call attach methodology
is a calendar system interface which logs newly added calendar events
which have a well-known keyword, such as "CONFERENCE CALL".  Upon
detection of the well-known conference call event keyword in a newly
added calendar entry on the requester's system, all persons in the
participant fields of the calendar notice are saved as a conference
call distribution list by interfacing with a connected AB to retrieve
the appropriate phone numbers.  The distribution list is maintained
on the conference call requester's system.  An automatic timer thread
is spawned for automatic wakeup a configurable amount of time prior
to the start of the scheduled conference call.  The system prompts
the user for whether or not an automatic timer thread is to be
spawned.  At that time a lead time period may be specified.  The user
may choose not to have an automated conference call.
