Spinning Disk Magnetometer for Non-Flyable Disks

      Described is an apparatus to measure the magnetic film
properties of Hc (Coercivity), S* (Coercive Squareness), and Mrt
(Magnetic moment per unit area) on a magnetic disk.

      The device is diagrammed in the Figure.  It uses macro size
ring heads 1, 7, and 8 suspended over the disk 3.  One head is  used
to supply a calibrated H field 1, one to write the transitions on the
disk 7, and one to read 8 the media under test 3.  The erase and
write functions performed by 1 and 7 can also be combined into one
head.  Multiple read and write heads (sets) 7 and 8 can be used to
simultaneously write and read various test tracks on the surface
under test 3.  A drive motor 5 rotates the disk under the test heads.
