Collapsible Disk Clamping Apparatus

      The described apparatus utilizes a radial hard disk clamping
technique with an elastomer clamp which has a collapsible middle skin
to clamp and unclamp the disk.

      As shown in Fig. 1, the elastomer clamp 1 is molded into the
shape as shown.  Disk 2 is held radially and downward by the radial
vector clamping produced by the elastomer 1.  As shown in Fig. 2, to
unclamp you can either manually push down on the center of the
elastomer 1 or use vacuum.  Fig. 3 shows how a multiple disk clamp
can be made utilizing the elastomer 1, the disk 2, and a spacer ring
3 to assure spacing and tolerance.
